The Apex Fire Department is committed to providing for the safety and security of all of our citizens, including youngsters who may find themselves in difficult and even dangerous situations due to abuse, neglect, or other problems. Our fire stations have been designated as Safe Place sites, and our personnel can assist children in need.

Project Safe Place originated in 1983 as an effort through the YMCA Center for Youth Alternatives. This program provides immediate access to assistance for youths in crisis situations. Any youth can walk into or call our fire stations if in need of help, and be given direct access to a counselor if desired.
