Scooter started as a volunteer firefighter in 1991, while still in high school. He became a career firefighter in 1997. He was promoted to Driver, then Captain. In 2003, he was promoted to Fire Commander. He is state certified in the following areas: Firefighter II, Driver/Operator, Hazmat, and EMT. He is a state certified instructor specializing in Driver/Operator training.
