Butch Woody started his firefighting career in 1974 and advanced to Captain. He served as Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President and President for two terms. He was chosen as Fireman of the Year in 1992. He started the first Junior Cadet Program in the early 90's, his son Sean was the first to become a junior member as a fireman. He hired the first three full-time firemen for Apex at Station 1. He has enjoyed his 30 years as an Apex Fireman and is still active today.
