Apex Fire Department Christmas Dinner

13 December 2008

Each year, Chief Haraway sponsors a Christmas party for department members (current and retired), their families, and other honored guests - treating everyone to a wonderful buffet-style supper, plenty of home-baked treats, and even a visit from Santa Claus who comes bearing gifts for the children. This year's party was held on Saturday 12/13/08. We had a packed house, with around 150 attendees!

I couldn't possibly name everyone who was involved in the planning and coordination of this event without forgetting someone - but I would be remiss in not recognizing Chief Haraway and his family, especially his parents who traveled from their home in Virginia to help prepare the food, decorate the station, and make sure everyone had a great time! Thanks to EVERYONE who worked so hard to make this wonderful event possible!

After supper, there was an awards presentation. The following were recognized:

The desserts were so nice looking, it was almost a shame to eat them!

The bays at Station 1 were all decorated in preparation for Santa's arrival

A nice area laid out for the kids

Is that an elf????? Oh wait, no, it's just Hoina!

About 150 people packed the bays to enjoy this feast

This beautiful plaque elicited plenty of oohs and aahs from the audience, and everyone honored Ollie with a standing ovation.
