On Wednesday 13 June 2007 (B-shift), Apex Fire Department crews were dispatched at 16:05 to a 10-50 PI on New Hill Holleman Road. Fire units arrived within minutes to find two 18-wheeler tractor trailers that had collided head-on, strewing debris across the roadway and trapping one of the drivers inside his rig. Engine 2, Rescue 1, Rescue 3 and Battalion Chief 1 responded from Apex along with two ambulances from Apex EMS. In addition, Holly Springs Engine 2 and Rescue 1 assisted, as well as Cary EMS Supervisor 580. The road was shut down for several hours, and Apex Fire crews remained on scene until 01:30 the next morning.
