At 08:24 on Wednesday 2/4/09, Apex firefighters were dispatched to Old US 1 near Kelly Road for a reported 10-50 PI. Upon arrival they found a passenger vehicle vs. tree, with the patient pinned in the driver's seat. Car 1, Car 6, Battalion Chief 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Ladder 1 and Rescue 3 responded from the fire department and crews worked to extricate the patient. Apex EMS 41 and 42, Wake County Medic 91 and District 2, and NCSHP units also responded. A helicopter was called for transport, and the landing zone was set up at S. Salem Street and Apex Peakway. The call was terminated at 10:16.
