Apex Police and Fire participated in the state's first Operation Medicine Drop on Monday 3/15/2010 at the new Walmart on Apex Peakway. Sponsored by Safe Kids North Carolina, the SBI, DEA and other agencies, this event provides a secure way for people to get rid of unwanted medications. Ensuring proper disposal helps to prevent accidental poisonings and drug abuse and protects the environment from waste. Apex's event was one of 200 across the state. Over 2 million doses of medications were retrieved statewide.
