Despite the season's first winter storm having packed a punch to the area earlier in the week, the Apex Jaycees Christmas Parade went on as scheduled on Saturday evening, 7 December 2002. Crowds braved the freezing temperatures to watch the hour-long display of emergency apparatus, bands, go-carts, floats, and much more. The Apex Fire Department showed off Engine 1, Rescue 1 and Brush 1. The Firebelles decorated the 1939 Ford Hunter antique fire truck and rode it through the parade route.
