House Fire, Davis Drive
20 July 2001

The Apex Volunteer Fire Department and the Town of Apex Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Davis Drive late Friday night, 20 July 2001. When Engine 1 arrived on scene they found a fully involved mobile home and immediately attacked the fire from the front with one handline and pulled a second handline to the rear of the trailer to protect a nearby house. Luckily, the trailer was no longer occupied, as the owners had recently completed construction on their new house and had just finished moving all their belongings into it.

The outer shell of the mobile home peeled away from the heat.

Prior to our arrival the homeowner had opened the end of the trailer using a frontend loader. Needless to say, fire spread after that was rather rapid.
