The Apex Volunteer Fire Department and the Town of Apex Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Davis Drive late Friday night, 20 July 2001. When Engine 1 arrived on scene they found a fully involved mobile home and immediately attacked the fire from the front with one handline and pulled a second handline to the rear of the trailer to protect a nearby house. Luckily, the trailer was no longer occupied, as the owners had recently completed construction on their new house and had just finished moving all their belongings into it.
![]() The outer shell of the mobile home peeled away from the heat. |

![]() Prior to our arrival the homeowner had opened the end of the trailer using a frontend loader. Needless to say, fire spread after that was rather rapid. |
