At the 7 January meeting of the Apex Board of Commissioners, Mayor Keith Weatherly publicly recognized the Apex Firebelles for their 30+ years of unwavering support and service to the Apex Fire Department and to the community. He also thanked them for their most recent feat, serving meals to about 100 town employees and fire department members during the cleanup following the ice storm in December. PROCLAMATION
"PUBLIC EXPRESSION OF APPRECIATION"
Whereas, the Apex Fire Department Firebelles serves as an auxiliary to the Apex Fire Department and offers their support to the Apex Firefighters during extended operations and large-scale emergency events, and
Whereas, this group was founded in 1973 by the wives of existing firefighters and gave support to them while on the fire grounds, and
Whereas, since that time this group has continued to be readily available to provide for the needs of the Apex Fire Department at a moments notice, and
Whereas, during the recent ice storm event that captivated the Town of Apex on December 12, 2002, the Apex Fire Department Firebelles provided meals for Town of Apex employees during the first 36 hours of the storm event, and
Whereas, because of this groups gracious acts of kindness during this time of need approximately 100 personnel were fed four meals.
Now, Therefore, I, Keith H. Weatherly, Mayor of the Town of Apex, North Carolina, do hereby publicly express appreciation to the Apex Fire Department Firebelles, Vicki Vaughn, Joy Yates, Marion Woody, Nancy Dawson, Linda Horton, and Mae Franklin for their kind assistance during our Towns time of need.
