LIVE BURN, KELLY ROAD

8 October 2004

Nearly two years after we tried to burn this house down the first time, we finally got to finish the job. The abandoned house at the corner of Kelly Road and Olive Chapel Road has been put to good use since the live burn gone awry in November 2002. Our firefighters have been using it for RIT, ventilation, and numerous other evolutions.

Finally on Friday, 8 October 2004, it was time to bring it down for good. But first, a film crew took a variety of shots for a project they were working on. Once they were done, firefighters loaded the house with wood pallets and hay. Shortly after noon, armed with a charged hoseline for protection, a crew entered the structure and lit it up room by room. Within minutes, flames were shooting through the roof. By 1pm, all that was left standing was the chimney, which firefighters knocked down with a straight stream. We spent the next hour or so soaking down the debris pile with foam.

Click the thumbnails for a larger photo, it will come up in a separate browser window. Some of them may take awhile to load, especially over dial-up, so please be patient!

A last look at the room that caused us so much trouble (and LOTS of paperwork!) nearly two years ago

"Hey y'all.... watch this!"

Brothers Cueball - that's, Cueball 1 and Cueball 2

This house had one last nasty surprise in store for us.

Those who were there know what this is...

Suffice it to say that our guardian angels were watching over us once again this afternoon, just as they were two years ago in this very same house
